Student Counsellor
Hi, I’m Julia. I am a passionate advocate for mental health, pursuing my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. My experience in holistic clinic settings has allowed me to gain a strong understanding of the diversity and unique needs of individuals. I’m excited to be offering individual sessions as a student counsellor at Lighthouse Wellness Centre.
In my counselling practice, I embrace a client-centred approach that empowers individuals to navigate life’s stressors, including life transitions, personal or relational conflicts, and grief. I believe that everyone has the strength within them to overcome challenges, and my role is to support and guide them on that journey. By fostering a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental environment, I aim to help clients explore their feelings, develop coping strategies, and ultimately find their path to healing and resilience.

I grew up in a vibrant family of six right here in Brandon, Manitoba. I developed a deep appreciation for the arts, finding joy in dance, music, painting and sketching. My creative pursuits are a vital outlet, enriching my life and providing balance amid my professional endeavours. I love to sketch and express myself artistically, often drawing inspiration from the world around me. This passion for the arts fuels my creativity and informs my empathetic approach to community care, as I believe in the transformative power of self-expression and connection through the arts.

I would describe my spirit as energetic and empathetic, always seeking to uplift those around me. I have a zest for life that drives me to embrace new experiences and forge meaningful connections with others. I find joy in practising yoga and meditation, which help ground me and foster my inner peace. These practices not only enhance my well-being but also deepen my understanding of balance and mindfulness—elements I strive to incorporate into my personal and professional life.
