Nicole Funk

Counsellor

Hi! I’m Nicole! I have been in the counselling field for 8 years in and around the Brandon, Manitoba area. Following obtaining a degree in Counselling and Family Support, I found my passion and specialty in the Domestic Violence field. I have worked with survivors of domestic violence, family violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault for many years now.

Through my education, and on-going training in family violence, and a thorough understanding of the neurobiology of trauma and harm reduction, I ensure that every situation is handled in a trauma-informed, survivor-centred approach. I will also be Therapeutic Play certified at the beginning of April. I pride myself in assisting individuals gain their power back, make informed choices about their own healing journey, while utilizing a non-judgmental approach. I have worked with individuals aged 4 to 90 years old, in the school system, with child and family services, and through a women centred non-profit organization. My goal is to provide individuals and families a safe space to speak about their struggles, family dynamics, unhealthy relationship cycles, and/or the joys and obstacles that come with blended families.

More about me

A little more about myself…. I grew up in rural Manitoba, taking in everything that small town life has to offer. In my spare time, I balance family, kids sports, school events, and all the loud, fun, chaos that comes with my big, blended family! I firmly believe that having an empathetic ear to listen, having someone to openly communicate with, and maybe sharing a laugh along the way, really encourages individuals to feel safe, heard, and secure. Life is stressful, but it doesn’t have to be stressful alone.
