Melissa Hornby

RSW

Welcome! My name is Melissa, and I am a Registered Social Worker based in Brandon, Manitoba. My practice is deeply rooted in a trauma-informed approach, which means I prioritize creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for every client. I recognize the impact that trauma can have on mental health and well-being, and I strive to ensure that all interactions are guided by compassion, respect, and an understanding of each person's unique experiences.

I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Human Ecology focused on Family Violence, Child Development, and Community Planning. I have worked in Community Mental Health, domestic violence counselling, and client care coordination, supporting individuals and families through diverse challenges.

More about me

My counselling style is holistic and client-centered, integrating evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing—all delivered through a trauma-informed lens. I have experience working with clients of all ages facing anxiety, depression, and self-esteem concerns, always with sensitivity to the effects of trauma.

As your counsellor, I see myself as a guide on your mental health journey. My goal is to help you explore your strengths, navigate challenges, and achieve your goals in a way that feels safe and empowering. I look forward to working together and invite you to share your hopes and questions as we begin this process
