Canadian Certified Counsellor
Meet Alex!
Hi, I’m Alex! I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and EMDR trained therapist specializing in trauma, with over 17 years of experience supporting children, youth, and families. Growing up is hard enough, and carrying heavy experiences alone makes it harder. Therapy shouldn’t feel rigid, cold, or intimidating. I focus on creating a down-to-earth, compassionate, and authentic space where genuine connection, real laughter, and meaningful growth can happen.
More about me
My practice combines evidence-based psychological science with creative, adaptable tools tailored to how trauma affects each person. I integrate EMDR, CBT, DBT, ITTM, and ACT, along with expressive play, somatic techniques, and family-systems approaches. This helps children and adults regulate big emotions, process painful memories, and restore a sense of safety, without needing to relive every detail or find the “perfect” words.

I’ve spent nearly two decades working in high-complexity environments, including child welfare, addictions, and family violence. That experience also lets me support community collaterals and guide care teams in applying trauma-informed practices.

I hold a Master of Education (Counselling), a Graduate Diploma in Rural Development, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology with a minor in Women & Gender Studies. I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

When I’m not in session, I’m navigating life with my husband, our son, and our lively household: a corgi, a golden retriever, and a turtle. You’ll usually find me at our cabin with a large cup of coffee, catching live rock shows, or rewatching my favorite movies and guilty-pleasure reality TV.
